Coach Pete

Head coach and founder Pete Ng is no stranger to helping people in need having spent years as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and firefighter for the City of Houston where in 2010 he was introduced to the sport of CrossFit.

After discovering the profound improvements to nearly every aspect of his life, like so many of us who fall instantly in love with CrossFit, Pete was hooked – and in a big way.

Just six months after he suffered happily through his first WOD, Pete obtained his Level 1 certification and began his career in the CrossFit world. A year later, he founded Fidelis CrossFit which started in his home’s garage and quickly expanded to the facility you see today.

“Fidelis Crossfit is truly my dream come true. I get to meet people from all walks of life, connect with them, show them what they are capable of, help them overcome their doubts, make them a better, stronger, faster version of themselves and my reward for all of this is that I get to witness their hard work, results and transformation right before my eyes. There’s no better feeling.”

Pete specializes in strength training and Olympic weightlifting. He also enjoys regularly participating in 5Ks, mountain biking, and living the dream with his amazing and beautiful wife and daughters who make it all just that much better.

Coach Marnie

Coach Marnie fell head first into the sport of CrossFit shortly after her first WOD just over 7 years ago and soon after, she became a certified coach and is loving every minute of it.

Marnie specializes in coaching athletes of all athletic abilities. “I love seeing our athletes grow and achieve goals they didn’t think they could, or the ones they’ve been trying so hard to hit. I really enjoy the CrossFit community and helping people succeed.”

While her passion for our favorite sport appears to be second to none, she says that her wonderful family will always be her #1 priority and the reason why she is so invested in doing good for others.

“My 15-year-old daughter, aka Stinky Stinks is the center of my world. I want to live as an example for her that nothing is impossible if you really want it and work for it. As Audrey Hepburn once said, ‘the word itself says I’m Possible. That’s a great message!”

Coach Felipe

Felipe Ortega is a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer at Fidelis CrossFit who, in just a few years of coaching, is already one of the best in our area.

Prior to joining the Fidelis team, Felipe’s start in the athletic world came by way of a variety of interesting sports – baseball and soccer in his early years, and football and wrestling in high school. He then served for 5 years as a proud member of the United Stated Marine Corps where he fell in love with functional fitness and pairing it with his newfound passion for Jiu-Jitsu.

“As a jiu-jitsu practitioner, I found that CrossFit gave me amazing results, both on and off the mats – in and out of the box. I think a lot of people fall in love with CrossFit that way. It initially exists to make you a better athlete then somehow it evolves into something much bigger than you ever expected.”

Felipe specializes in kettlebell movements and is truly passionate about helping his members make improvements to every aspect of their lives. “I want to pass down the knowledge and methodology of CrossFit from what I learned from my Coaches, my training and my research. I believe I can make an impact at the box so many of us call our second home. But as much as I’m passionate about this sport, nothing beats spending time with my kids and my wife – the lovely Coach Liz!”

Coach Liz

Liz Ortega is a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer at Fidelis CrossFit and doubles as our go-to dance expert as we’re always in need of new and innovative dance moves to perform when our members smash their PRs.

Liz’s passions weren’t always for the barbell – shocking we know! “I was a dancer for 16 years, and NBA Cheerleader, and a dance and aerobics instructor prior to becoming a coach at Fidelis. Within just a few short months of CrossFitting and realizing the impact that it has made in my life, I knew I wanted to pay it forward.”

Since then, Liz has in fact made a huge impact in the lives of our members at Fidelis with her positive and inspiring attitude. Her contributions have helped our athletes focus on progress, not perfection, which has added an invaluable piece to our community and culture. “Being a part of our members’ athletic milestones and helping them reach new goals accompanied by my husband, Coach Felipe, gives me the ultimate satisfaction in my job.”

Coach Aislinn "Ace"

Aislinn Herrera’s journey to CrossFit started over 4 years ago while she was looking for a way to lose weight and regain health. She started CrossFit in Baton Rouge at Red Stick CrossFit and never looked back. Aislinn completed her bachelor’s degree in Sports Studies at LSU and most recently obtained her Master’s degree in Kinesiology-Sports Pedagogy and Physiology also at LSU.

Now, as a part of Fidelis CrossFit, Aislinn loves that she can always count on the Fidelis family to support and push her to be great!  “I started CrossFit because I just didn’t want to be fat anymore. I was tired of being tired. But CrossFit helped me learn to be an athlete again. Through this sport, I’ve learned to be competitive with myself and be my best self. This community has encouraged me and held me up when I’ve been at my lowest and taught me that I can do anything. It’s the best getting to help people be their best selves in the same way that they’re helping me.”

Things she loves: LSU Tigers, coffee, flip flops, rhinestones, PRs, and puppies. Things that she doesn’t love so much: bad grammar, dirty bathrooms, negative attitudes, people telling her she “can’t”.
